Literature Text

Bokuto turned the key in the keyhole and the door to his house opened up, welcoming him and Akaashi into the familiar warmth of the place where he grew up.

The silveret marched straight to the living room, his friend right at his heel. The sound of unfamiliar music washed over their ears as they stepped into the room. Bokuto squinted at the person sitting on the couch.

Feeling his gaze on her, [Name] craned her neck to look at him over her shoulder.

“Ah, Nii-chan! You’re here already!” she said, music still blasting from the speakers of her laptop.

“[Name], what are these owl screeches you’re listening to?” Bokuto hovered over the girl, hands resting his hips as he stared at the figures dancing around on the screen.

“They’re NOT owl screeches, stupid bro! He’s Taeyang!!!” she yelled.

“Who’s that?” Bokuto cocked his head to the side, completely clueless about contemporary music updates.

“Why would I expect you to know anything?” [Name] clicked her tongue and turned her attention back to the screen, ignoring her brother’s question completely.

“He’s a famous KPop idol, Bokuto-san”, Akaashi stepped in, already tired of the exchange.

“Huh?”

“Korean pop music.”

“Ah”, Bokuto exclaimed. Akaashi was sure he still had no clue about the topic of their conversation. “So what’s so great about this guy?” Bokuto turned to his sister.

“EVERYTHING! He’s hot, talented, and cool!” [Name] squealed excitedly. “Look how awesome his dance moves are!” Bokuto followed her finger that pointed to the screen.

“Huh! Anyone can do that!” he exclaimed, straightening up his back. Akaashi groaned internally, having a vague feeling that he knew exactly where this was going.

“No, they can’t!” [Name] retorted, pissing her brother off.

“Maybe not anyone, but me, totally!”

“What? Shut up! You can’t do anything! Only hitting balls!” she laughed him off. Akaashi barely held back from patting Bokuto on the head.

Overly eager to defend his pride, Bokuto stepped in front of his sister and tapped the top of the screen.

“Show me the steps!” he demanded.

“Whatever.”

“Now!”

“Fine! But don’t blame me if you make a fool of yourself in front of your friend!” she hissed.

As if that would be the first time, Akaashi sighed silently.

Following intensely with his eyes the movement of the figures on the screen, Bokuto brought a hand in front of him, bent it on the elbow and moved it up and down. He then exchanged it with his other arm, extended forward in a fist. He drew a circle over his head and then… he simply got lost.

He stared at the screen uncomprehending and ever slightly irritated.

“Again!” he ordered.

Akaashi brought a palm to his forehead, as [Name] replayed the song.

“You’re never gonna get it right”, she taunted him.

“I will! I can totally do it!” Self-encouragement, however, was far from enough to make up for Bokuto’s complete lack of dancing skill.

After multiple repetitions of the routine, he somehow managed to complete the hand gesture part and moved on to the footwork. And that was exactly the moment when all Hell broke loose.

Listening to the song again and again, Bokuto had started humming it to get in the rhythm. Akaashi simply stared at him, exasperated. There was no way out of this. Bokuto was jumping from side to side in a completely failed attempt to imitate the famous idol and [Name] was unable to contain her laughter anymore.

A small chuckle escaped her throat and the deleterious glare that Bokuto shot her only made things worse. She started shaking uncontrollably, roaring with laughter, as her brother’s face flushed radioactive red; from embarrassment or anger, Akaashi couldn’t tell. It was probably both. Or better yet, from mortification and fury.

Bokuto was about to explode. Just to prove his sister wrong, he increased his effort to follow the intricate footwork, not really paying attention to his surroundings. He slid one foot to the side, not noticing that it went under the carpet. He then closed his legs, his other foot stepping on the textile.

Not realising his predicament, he attempted to step away, managing only to trip over and land face first on the couch, right by his sister who was splitting her sides.

Still laughing, she put the laptop aside and patted her brother on the head.

“Don’t worry too much about it, Nii-chan. I still love you, despite how much of a loser you are!” She nodded condescendingly and left the living room.

Bokuto simply lay there, a dark cloud building up quickly over his head.

Extended End

Akaashi walked towards the club room, thanking all divine entities for saving him from any group performances that Bokuto could have come up with to soothe his hurt ego.

Fortunately for the brunet, Bokuto had simply brushed off the whole incident, declaring Taeyang and all KPop idols –probably all music idols in general- as lame tastes of teenage girls and passing fads. He had insisted that KPop was never mentioned in front of him – Never.Again. Not that Akaashi was planning to do so anyway.

He stepped in the dimly lit room and made out Bokuto’s figure crouched in the back, staring intently at his phone, earphones cancelling out all external noise.

Akaashi approached the silveret and glanced at the phone screen. Bokuto raised his gaze at the newcomer and hastily pulled the phone away from sight. However, not before Akaashi could discern the distinctive figure of Taeyang dancing on the screen.

The brunet squinted at the older male, hands on his hips.

“Ah, Ak-Akaashi! It’s… It’s not what it looks like!” Bokuto stuttered. “It’s [Name]! She sent me…!” He didn’t have time to explain further, as the screen flashed with an incoming message.

Two pairs of eyes fixed on the flashing screen.

From [Little Sis]:

IF I FIND MY TAEYANG T-SHIRT WRAPPED AROUND YOUR PILLOW AGAIN, I’M GONNA PUNCH HOLES IN ALL YOUR VOLLEYBALLS.

Akaashi raised his gaze to the captain’s deadly pale face, sighed disappointed, and walked away, leaving him in the sole company of Taeyang dancing Ringa Linga.

Deviating a lot from Hofund's original idea, sorry! Still based on that though!

The one thing that really gets me is Akaashi's reactions....or rather lack of it
